Prime by Seachem is a conditioner for fresh- and saltwater aquariums. Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and detoxifies ammonia. Prime works by converting ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by a biofilter. Prime may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime works to detoxify nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to be more efficient. This product will also detoxify and remove both chlorine and chloramines from municipal water supplies. It is non-acidic and will not impact pH; it will also not over activate protein skimmers. It is best to use at start-up and whenever you are adding or replacing the water. Seachem has taken a further step with Prime, by including an ammonia binder to detoxify the ammonia produced in the reduction process. Prime promotes the natural production and restoration of the slime coat rather than relying on artificial or non-native slime compounds.
