To be used exclusively in the Aquaclear 50/200 Power Filter, this foam insert is the mechanical filtration stage of the filtration media. It traps and removes larger particles and debris from the aquarium water and the surface. It also prevents these particles from clogging and interfering with the biological and chemical stages. After time, it will enhance biological filtration as beneficial bacteria eventually grow on the foam surface.
